As you are aware, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BRFC rugby season for 2020 was cancelled. At this point we are still waiting for guidelines for the 2021 season to see if it will be viable to start the season. We are hoping for further instructions from the Government in the upcoming weeks and we will keep you apprised of any changes as we receive them.
SENIOR RUGBY (18 and over) We are currently planning a skills based season for 2021, subject to permission from Rugby Quebec & Santé Publique. Senior practices - if permitted - would most likely occur Thursday evenings. For more information please join the senior player FB page or contact the program directors. The season would focus on skills training and team building. As soon as we receive further information we will let you know. In the meantime, watch this space for more details. Planning and vision for the 2021 Junior season. All subject to change. The season will be Practice ONLY, NON contact and there will be NO jamborees. Looking to hopefully start registration, if possible, late June for a July 5 start. (All subject to Government approval). Possible training schedules: (See age categories in below appendix). U8 & U10 - Monday Night U12 & U14 - Tuesday Night U16 & U18 - Wednesday Night May hold two sessions per evening: 6:15- 7:15pm & 7:30- 8:30pm. Cost of Registration still to be determined. Rugby Quebec and Rugby Canada have reduced fees due to the non-contact season being proposed. There will be NO refunds should the season be cancelled. Rules for Players ⁃ Group sizes in accordance with Santé Publique guidelines ⁃ Masks Mandatory ⁃ Distancing measures in place ⁃ Hands to be sanitized before entering field ⁃ Players to come to practice with own: water bottle, gum guard, etc. No sharing. See practice guidelines in below appendix. Rules for Parents ⁃ Unfortunately, parents will not be allowed to stay at the pitch during training. ⁃ Parents will be asked to drop children at practice and leave field perimeter. We are hopeful that players will be able to enjoy being outdoors and practicing rugby again in 2021. We are doing our very best to create a safe return to play strategy for all club members and look forward to seeing you and your families soon. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. BRFC Executive Committee BRFC Jr. Rugby Return to Play Committee Sunday was a very busy day for our junior teams; our U15 M, U17 M, and U19 M all brought home championships! Our U15 M were hosted by the Barbs for their final match of the Rugby Quebec / Rugby Lac Saint Louis season. On a very hot afternoon the boys persevered and won their championship! The inaugural Keith Matthews Cup was presented to the team by Rugby Lac Saint Louis President Joel Blanchfield. Congratulations to the team and their coaches Graeme McGravie and Tom Smith! Huge thank you to all our BRFC parents for their relentless support during the season! Our BRFC U17 M and U19 M teams travelled to St Jean to compete in the Rugby Quebec 7's Championships hosted by the Club de Rugby les Barracudas de St-Jean. Un gros merci au 'Barracudas' for a well organized and hosted event! Our U17M powered through and came out the U17 M Champions! Congratulations to the team and Coach Gary Tennant for an awesome day of rugby! To our U17/U19 parents who came together with delicious treats for our players a huge thank you! Thank you also to BRFC for providing Gatorade and water to our teams throughout the hot day. Our U19 M enjoyed a great day of 7's rugby and capped off the event with a 7's Championship title. Coached by Mike Simpson and Joe Baillie this team hit their stride early and kept going. Congratulations to the team and their coaches for another great day of rugby!
The worst of the heat wave is over, the Seniors have recovered from their holiday break, the Juniors are on the road, and the Old Boys are back on the pitch. Want to check out some rugby this weekend? We have plenty coming up this weekend:
Friday Our U17 Boys start the weekend off Friday night, July 6th, in Ste Anne's against SABRFC. The match kicks off at 7pm at Ecole Saint Georges. Saturday Our U19 Men are leading the day by heading into town to take on RCM. And after a few weeks off, Saturday is once again a rugby day, with a senior double-header at BHS! Senior Men take on St Lambert at 1:30PM Senior Women look to continue their undefeated run taking on the Barrhaven Scottish at 3:00PM Come join us for a few burgers, beers, and some excellent rugby! Sunday Our Youth Rugby are going up to DDO for the Montreal Barbarians Junior Jamboree on Sunday morning. Games will be going on all day. Let's go support our minis! Our U15 Girls are heading down to Ste Julie on Sunday morning for their 7's tournament. Come lend your support and watch some lightning-fast rugby! Finally, the Old Boys are taking back to the pitch against our friends from the Barrhaven Scottish Old Boys at BHS, kicking off at 3:00PM. The first mini jamboree of the 2018 season will be hosted by Westmount Rugby Football Club at King George Park (Murray Hills- Upper Fields of the King George Park) BRFC's U7-U9-U11 and U13's will enjoy a morning full of fun rugby!

We welcome players aged 4-19 to TRY Rugby! No prior experience is necessary and we encourage players of all abilities to join in the fun! Our coaches will be available in each age grade to offer fun activities and introduction to the sport of rugby. Complimentary healthy snacks are offered while our volunteers set up the famous BRFC obstacle course! Grab a friend and come join in the fun! BRFC TRY Rugby is a Rugby Canada Sanctioned Event. BRFC will be hosting the Barrhaven Scottish in a friendly "Old Boys" matchup. The game will be kicking off at 1:00, with a BBQ and post-match social planned at the pitch. Come join us on the sidelines for what promises to be an exciting match. (And hopefully, it will be a little cooler than our last Old Boys game!) If you're looking to catch some fun rugby this coming weekend, our Old Boys will be taking to the pitch on Saturday. Our friends next door, SABRFC, are hosting their Alumni Day, and have invited our Old Boys to take on theirs at Ecole Saint Georges on Saturday, September 23.
Kick Off is at 3:00. Players to be meeting at the pitch at 2:00. For those who are more socially inclined, SABRFC will be hosting a post-match social. Come join the fun the sidelines during and after the match, as we enjoy nicer weather than we had for most of our summer matches this year.
